BLOODHOUND SSC Rocket Test Rig
For the past three years I've been working as film maker and photographer for the Bloodhound SSC land speed record team. The aim is to inspire a new generation of engineers by building a 1000mph car - sharing the exciting story (and science behind it) with schools and colleges all over the world. This drawing shows the test-rig for the rocket system. The large tank holds 1000 litres of High Test Peroxide which is the oxidiser for the rocket. The liquid is pumped into the rocket by a powerful car engine which empties the tank in just 17seconds! When I did the sketch, the engine was a 2010 Cosworth F1 - it's now a Jaguar.
